Do gays and lesbians deserve happiness too?

Went to see Brokeback Mountain this afternoon, a lot of people were weeping towards the end of the movie...that's how good the movie is. And the viewers? mostly straight couples and people in their 50's/60's...it is mainstream, but only playing at one cinema in Toronto, wonder why.
